Who Am I?

Hailing from a small town called Kumbakonam, the "Cambridge of South India", I was introduced to the Commonly Operated Machine Particularly Used for Technology, Education and Research (COMPUTER) at the age of 7, thanks to my parents. Enchanted by seeing the computer respond to my instructions and programs, I developed a passion for it over time. Having moved to Madras (aka Chennai) for middle school and to the US for graduate studies, so far it has been a fair mix of learning, working and travelling to enjoy this beautiful journey of life.

Evacuate or Not? A POMDP Model of the Decision Making of Individuals in Hurricane Evacuation Zones

Conference on Uncertainty in Artificial Intelligence - Jul 2019

Recent hurricanes near the southern United States triggered a series of evacuation orders in Florida, Georgia, and Texas. We aim to understand the observable and hidden variables involved in the decision-making process and model these in a partially observable Markov decision process, which predicts whether a person will evacuate or not given his or her current situation. The process model is represented as a dynamic influence diagram and evaluated on data collected via a comprehensive survey of hurricane-impacted individuals.

Efficient Routing with Inverse Reinforcement Learning

International Journal of Advanced Research in Computer Science - Feb 2018

The beginning of personalized transportation has ushered in a new dimension in the understanding of traffic. Increased vehicular traffic with almost constant mapped spatial area requires an effective balancing/routing strategy to maintain stability among the network. The proposed system approaches the routing problem with the aim of learning optimal reward functions by observing regular human behavior for a set of actions. These functions are pivotal in maximizing utility for every agent involved in the procedure by adopting a cooperative and interactive approach.

Efficient Accident Detection and Rescue System Using ABEONA Algorithm

International Journal of Emerging Trends & Technology in Computer Science - Oct 2014

The most common reason for loss of lives in a road accident is the lack of proper communication to the emergency services. We propose an efficient system that automatically notifies these services about the accident and also guides them to the spot. When an accident occurs, it is detected by the Crash Sensor of the Air Bag System installed in the vehicle and a controller triggers a message to notify the Emergency Services. We Employ Vehicular AD-Hoc network (VANET) to deliver this message to the rescue services. VANET also helps these services in finding the optimum route to the accident spot, using ABEONA algorithm.
