மனசு இருந்தா மார்கபந்து . . . மார்கம் உண்டு .

Think about your body. The brain is the data store. The heart is the power station. But the mind is a uniquely designed illusion that includes all the non-physical aspects of our body – imagination, perception, satisfaction – you get it. That said, can you work just with your mind to change the way your body reacts to its environment?
Enter -The Placebo Effect!!
As per the world’s most trusted information source (Wikipedia), a placebo is used to change the way you perceive things rather than directly affect the thing itself. Most commonly, placebos are pills/tablets that make you think that it is going to make you healthier, while it is the thought that is helping your body heal itself. Now, replace the pill with an activity to induce that thought, and it is called a mindset intervention.
Recently, I was listening to an audio book called “The Upside of Stress” that listed several examples of how mindset interventions yielded significantly positive results. One such example I can still remember is about the housekeeping staff at hotels. During a study, some staff were educated about how the job of cleaning rooms is just a mix of exercises that people generally do at the gym. At the end, these participants showed improved health conditions, like BMI, heart rate, etc., compared to another group that received no such training. This, and multiple other studies prove that it is possible to create an impact by just thinking about things differently.
Too much theory?? Okay, let’s switch things around.
Along with the diet restriction, it is equally important to believe that what you are eating will help you lose weight. That is what makes your body feel better and react in the right way to get to the end state. Similarly, to get your body to cooperate for anything, you need to give it some incentive, or at least fool it enough to think so. And if you can make it think it has incentive, it can do wonders for you without any external help.
Next time you want to achieve something, start training your mind from day one for the end state and you will power yourself to get there sooner.
