It’s been a while since we compared life to The Coaster. Let’s take another thing we all have almost definitely seen β The Spring. Not the season, the mechanical object (of course! π). Being an engineer, that too from Chennai, the season is not the first thing that comes to mind. All we know is the degree of hotness of summer!
Okay!! Coming back to the topic β Spring.
Let’s level set first. For those who donβt know β A spring is like a coiled metal or rubber band that can stretch and bounce back. It comes in a multitude of shapes and sizes starting from the tiny ones in your phone’s sim tray to gigantic ones in lorries and what not. In between, they are used in everything from ballpoint pens to clocks to computers to calling bell switches. All of them have one single property-to return to their original shape as soon as possible. By way of that, they make all supporting parts work as they intend. However, almost all the time they are confined to the space they were built for.
Now, I don’t know if you are seeing this already but there are so many things we can learn.
The Variety
Every use case requires a unique spring. You cannot use the one inside your pen as a shock absorber in your car or the shock absorber inside your calling bell. Similarly, every situation that life presents is unique. Although you can learn from one and tackle another, you can never repeat the same steps.
The Supports
A spring just on its own is almost always useless. It needs additional external help to showcase its best property. Similarly in life, you achieve very little all by yourself. Starting from the first steps you take to the greatest things you achieve, you need the rest of the world to help, motivate and support you. So don’t hesitate to ask!!
The Property
How many ever times a spring is compressed or expanded, it gets back to shape as soon as possible. At its core, it never looses its original form and strives hard to come back to it. Similarly, whenever there is external force in life trying to deform you, you should not give up your core values and principles.
